MSL Graduates Who Are New Lawyers!

Congrats!

Most MSL students come to the program with an interest in law and the goal of gaining legal knowledge to better position themselves at the intersection of STEM, law, and business. While in the program, though, some students discover their love for the law and develop the desire to become a full-fledged lawyer, deciding to pursue a traditional JD upon completion of the MSL program. We’d like to recognize the following MSL graduates who are newly minted lawyers!

Ying Chen (MSL ’19) – Legal Assistant,King & Wood Mallesons, Shanghai

Ying is working on all aspects of intellectual property including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Most of her work is litigation-related, but her practice also includes contracting and licensing of technologies.

Daniyal Hannan (MSL ’18) – Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Laura S. Ripken at the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland, Baltimore

Daniyal recently graduated with a JD from American University Washington College of Law and is working as a judicial clerk at the Court of Special Appeals in Maryland.

Saige Gallop (MSL ’17) – Associate, Foley & Lardner, San Diego

As a member of Foley’s Technology Transactions & Outsourcing Group, Saige focuses on areas of corporate law including series financing, business formation, and technology transactions.

Rui Li (MSL ’20) – International Patent Manager, Anker Innovations Technology, Shenzhen

Rui is an in-house patent attorney at Anker. In this role, she litigates and prosecutes patents. Her MSL experience has enabled her to navigate complex global intellectual property matters.

Qingyang Meng (MSL ’20) – Associate, King & Wood Mallesons, Shenzhen

Qingyang passed the California bar exam and is an attorney in China. He focuses on corporate law, including matters involving foreign direct investment, outbound direct investment, equity acquisition, and private equity.

Matt Wilkerson (MSL ’16) – Associate, Schiff Hardin, Chicago

Matt’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, licensing, and monetization in various areas including biology, chemistry, and biotech. Matt is a military veteran and an active member of the MSL alumni community. We are grateful for his service and all he has done for the MSL program.
