Multiple organizations have successfully collected PROMIS® measures. PROMIS is increasing simple to utilize through the PROMIS Epic app.
University of Chicago
Pain and function are often the reasons that patients seek foot and ankle orthopedic care. Consequently, providers and patients are interested in monitoring these domains over time. At the University of Chicago’s foot and ankle orthopedic surgery clinic, new patients are asked to complete several PROMIS computer adaptive tests (CATs) including:
- Ability to Participate in Social Roles & Activities
- Pain Interference
- Physical Function
Assessments are triggered by an appointment or by surgery. Follow-up assessments are available at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months, 12 months, and yearly up to 5 years post-surgery. Patients complete CATs via the MyChart patient portal at home or in the clinic via computer or mobile device.
University of Illinois Hospitals and Clinics
The Family Medicine Clinic at the University of Illinois Hospitals and Clinics is instituting systems designed to screen older adults for age-related cognitive and physical decline. Patients aged 65 and older will be asked to complete PROMIS computer adaptive tests (CATs) including:
- Cognitive Function
- Physical Function
Assessments will be available 7-10 days before a routine scheduled appointment with their primary care physician. Patients will be able to complete these assessments via the MyChart patient portal at home or in the clinic on a personal device. Results from the assessment will then be available to the care team during the clinic visit.
