After graduating from the MSL, Kuanze Ma started AceBeta in Beijing. AceBeta’s product, Valyou, is an internet headhunting application and platform. Valyou is like Uber or DiDi for corporate recruiting. It allows users to participate in the recruiting process and get rewarded for that participation. In addition to the app, AceBeta provides HR consulting and headhunting services. Kuanze credits the MSL for helping him start his business by teaching him skills to manage daily operations, control risk, and increase revenue.
The idea for AceBeta grew from the culture of helping or promoting others in one’s network. Using network connections, like an alumni group, is a great way for companies to recruit people who can become impactful employees. The recruitment process can be daunting; using established networks brings efficiency and reliability to an otherwise chaotic process.
Kuanze reports that the recruiting and headhunting industry in China is not overly saturated with competitors; he describes this as an “industry in evolution” and notes that the total market size is growing by 20% per year. Part of this growth is the result of government policy that is accelerating development in the sector.
