Halfway done

It’s our 5th week in Berlin and things keep getting better. We just finished our first week of classes at Humboldt University in Berlin. There are hundreds of other students from around the world studying with us. The classes are very interactive and the professors are very fun and interesting.

After 5 weeks in Germany I have learned enough German in order to move around the city. Learning German with other students form around the world is a really interesting experience because of the opportunity to learn about their cultures as well.

Humboldt University has been a great host institution. The people in charge of the program have organized activities almost every day after class in order for students to hang out with their peers. Visits to Potsdam, Kreuzberg and the Bundestag are only a few examples of all the activities that they have organized. Tomorrow there is a beach volleyball tournament which I am sure Northwestern will end up wining!

The weather in Berlin has been great and some of us even got the chance to go swimming in one of the many lakes that surround the city. Most students in Germany have already started their summer breaks as well which means that wherever we go we get to meet people of our age. The next couple of weeks look very promising with an array of activities as well as interesting class-trips in Humboldt and around Berlin.
