Berlin Thus Far

Packing for my trip to Weimar this weekend, I think about all the amazing sights and adventures I have experienced thus far in Berlin. Each day has brought a new challenge, adventure, sight (and coffeeshop) and I am still forever grateful for being able to experience this world-class city in the summer, when the weather is perfect and music festivals are popping up everywhere.

Berlin is an amazing city, with art, music and fun everywhere. The best moments for me are those nights spent walking around the city’s various neighborhoods, and finding coffeeshops and artisan stores. The creativity and open-mindedness of Berliners is awe-inspiring, and has forced me to also become (even more) open minded and has also made me an altogether more accepting person. People here are just what I expected and more- multi-talented, intelligent, and worldly with great experiences.

My classes are also quite interesting- I enjoy how German 222 allows me to connect what I learn about German (and in particular, Berlin’s) history and how these events have affected the lifestyle of Germans today. In addition, German class allows me to improve my writing, reading and speaking skills, resulting in me finally being able to order meals for myself in German! I can’t wait for my trips to Weimar and Hamburg, but I know that I will be itching to come back to Berlin. I’ve fallen in love with this magical city.
