Oh Paris, how do I even find the words?
After two days here, I can understand why it is the most visited city in the world. Sure, there are the stereotypes of fashion and glamor, but for me there is something else-I can really feel the culture here, with the narrow streets and their terraced cafes, the cigarette smoke and the French flags hanging on the fronts of schools.
I have also had a fairly seamless adjustment to host family life. My host parents will be returning from vacation in a few days, but their daughter (my host sister?) was ready to greet me into their artsy apartment with a pile of croissants and a Paris-scaped tablecloth. Together we have bought groceries at the local Monoprix and made quiche, navigated the metro system and the cable TV. As I resist the early end of my summer, I am beyond excited for the adventure that awaits me.
