Media Effects: How Is Media/Social Media Use Associated with Our Personality and How Does It Affect Our Political Engagement?

We decide how to use media (at least partly), and media use affects us. Using two theoretical frameworks that focus on individual differences in media use, I examine whether such variables explain online political content sharing. I had received a summer undergraduate research grant from Northwestern University to study it, and I found that some of these variables do explain our political content sharing tendencies online. At the end, I propose a model that explains a (sort of) novel way to think about the process of political content sharing.
