Hi everyone,
Since June we have been operating under a 50% capacity as requested by the university in our lab spaces. In October, the Office of Research increased the maximum capacity to 65% capacity. We elected to stay at the 50% level during this time, but given the influx of new students and mentoring responsibilities, capacities will now be increased to <65% in the labs effective today (3/3/2021). The capacity policy is now a maximum of 8 people in Ryan 2035 and 6 people in Ryan 1018A at a time. To clarify, this change in policy is in line with what the Office of Research / Chemistry Department deemed as <65% capacity for these spaces so we will continue to be compliant with them. With this increase, please still continue to practice social distancing as much as possible in the labs.
With this update, shift schedules have been slightly adjusted and there are now 2 available spots to sign-up for extra shifts in the afternoon in each lab. The color-coded spots will continue to manage a rotation among themselves as needed to accommodate shift preferences while making sure that no researchers share a hood in the same shift.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns,
-Megan, Timur, and Xuan
