I hope everyone had a great weekend! Today we will have our monthly cleanup. Please be sure to clean your areas today and mark yourself off by 5 pm today using this google sheet.   I will be in the lab then to check on the hoods.  Specifically, please tidy up your hood/bench/sink(s), submit waste, ensure samples are labeled, change your pump oil, and return stock chemicals to supply cabinets. As you’re cleaning, please take note especially if you come across any peroxide formers. The attached resource has recommended timelines for their disposal (either 3 or 6 months after opening date depending on the reagent OR 1 year after receiving date if unopened). Commonly used reagents in our lab that are peroxide formers are dioxane,THF, cyclohexanol and other ethers or secondary alcohols. Peroxide test strips are available through ORS.
