Hi Farhomies,

There have been some issues with overheating samples/automatic cancellations on the SVPs. Before starting your activation, please make sure that the thermocouple corresponding to your heating mantle is fully connected and not loose (should be fully tightened to the right). Incorrect temperature readings will cause the system to overheat and will cancel the activations on all ports. If you have any questions regarding how to do this, feel free to find me and I can show you. Additionally, if you are reducing your activation temperature (ie. going from 120 to 30), please add another temperature in between those two (ie. go from 120 to 75 to 30) for a short period of time. A quick drop in the target temperature may also lead to the instrument thinking that it is overheating.

I will be doing maintenance on SVP 2 and SVP 3 later this week, so please make sure to plan your experiments accordingly. I will be staggering the days the SVPs are unavailable to minimize disruptions to everyone’s research.

All samples will be removed from SVP 3 starting from 10 am on 6/18. Usage will be allowed starting 10 am on 6/19. Likewise, for SVP 2, the instrument will be taken offline for 24 hours starting 10 am on 6/20.

Best,

Florencia
