From Neil Schweitzer, sent 6/1/2020:

Hello REACT users,

As you know, OR announced last week that we will begin to have access to the Catalysis building on Wednesday (June 3). As such, I wanted to share with you a brief glimpse of our own, multi-phase, plan for reopening.

In our first phase, Selim and I will be in the lab on a limited basis. During this time, and, starting on June 8, we will be offering a sample submission service. As part of this service, Selim or I will run your analysis for you. A general procedure for this new service will be sent out at the end of the week. Most users will not have direct access to REACT, although select, advanced users will have access when REACT staff is off campus (these users will be contacted in a separate email). Additionally, we will not be working on “specialized” or “modified” experiments, we will only be performing “standard” experiments.

As conditions improve, the University will eventually move into phase four of its’ six phase plan (expected to be somewhere between mid-July to early August). At this time, we will begin to allow restricted access to general users as well as activity that requires direct interaction with REACT staff such as “specialized” or “modified” experiments (social distancing and room occupancy limits will still be in place). Come fall, we are hoping to approach something resembling “normal operation,” but we must wait and see how things change.

If you have any questions about our plans, I am happy to discuss them with you. You can expect more updates from me in the near future, including details about the new sample submission service.

Have a safe week.

Neil
