The Power of Tiktok in Political Narratives
Welcome to my digital corner of the internet! I’m Latifa Al-Hetmi, a 2025 student at
Northwestern University in Qatar who is minoring in media and politics. This website reflects my
interest, my academic path, and the questions that keep me up at night. It is more than just a
portfolio. “The Power of TikTok in Political Activism,” my main focus, explores how short videos
can influence political narratives and bring about real-world change. Highlights from the classes
that influenced my thinking, such as International Relations and Media Law, are featured, along
with images that question the way Qatar was portrayed by Western media during the 2022 World
Cup. A video presentation and introspective thoughts that relate theory to practice are also
included. This place captures my voice, my growth, and my passion for understanding how media
