The main reason why I chose this program is because I’ve got a taste of China already. I’m not just talking about the amazing cuisine, I’m talking about my visit to China few months ago. December of 2017, I visited Shanghai and Beijing for five days. The experience was beautiful but underwhelming and the only thing left on my mind after my trip was ‘I need to come back’. I have not been to Summer Palace, I need to see the Great Wall again, and there is a food place in Shanghai, right off of Nanjing Road which has the best noodles in the whole wide world.
Few days ago I’ve talked to my adviser and requested to take a course on Chinese Contemporary Politics, which belongs to Politics and Economics program, and to take a course in Traditional Chinese Medicine which belongs to the Public Health program. I am none of those majors. I study International Studies and my concentration is the Far East, so what I’m trying to get out of this program is better understanding of China in general, and I’ve felt like these two would give me an interesting insight into this extraordinary country. I was so excited when I found out that my request is approved and now, I can’t wait to go back to China again!
