An Introduction to the Area Councils
Living on campus at Northwestern provides students with unique opportunities to engage with their residential
communities. One of the ways students can get involved is through the Area Councils. These student-led organizations play an essential role in shaping the residential experience by planning activities, promoting community engagement and developing leadership skills among participants.

Southwest Area Goes to Broadway
Evanston isn’t the setting for many classic movies so Northwestern University students feel a special connection to Mean Girls. Tickets and transportation were generously sponsored by the area’s leadership team. They even threw in a pre-departure reception to make the evening more social. So fetch!
One Book One Northwestern Comes to the Southwest
To encourage engagement with The Handmaid’s Tale, the 2018-19 One Book One Northwestern selection, the Southwest Area hosted events with guest faculty and staff to discuss some of the book’s themes with residents.
