Snacks by Southwest

Snacks by Southwest

Residents of the Southwest Area know that Snacks by Southwest will come every week. What they don’t know is the food or the entertainment. Will it be Hecky’s Barbecue or a taste test of 28 flavors of Oreos? Will Boomshaka be performing live or will Ben, the Faculty-in-Residence, play his curated 80s playlist? The best way to find out is to join the masses in the Willard Great Room or Foster-Walker basement lounge, depending on the week. Remember your Southwest Area mug! It’s the green thing to do, literally and figuratively.

"Wine" and Cheese Night with Ben and Amy

Ben (Faculty-in-Residence) and Amy (Partner-in-Residence) love going to the theatre. They regularly organize Southwest Area outings to productions on campus. Evenings begin with a “wine” and cheese reception in their apartment at Willard Hall. After mingling and eating lots of snacks, the group walks over to the theatre. These events are a great way to get to know Ben and Amy and enjoy a night on the town at no cost.

Running Club

Running Club

The Southwest Area Running Club meets bi-weekly to explore different parts of campus. Typically operating in a three-mile loop, the group has run anywhere from the lakefront to the Bahá’í Temple. In addition to the endorphins you get at the end of your run, Faculty-In-Residence Ben Gorvine provides the group with a variety of Gatorade flavors and protein-packed snacks!

Ceramics Night

Every quarter, The Southwest Area Council hosts a themed ceramics painting night! By kicking the year off with Spooky Ceramics, Southwest Area residents enjoy boba, cookies, and Halloween-themed pottery. While the theme of each ceramics night changes every quarter, each opportunity gives you the chance to explore your creative side and take home a professionally glazed ceramic piece!
