Internships

NPEP is seeking passionate, motivated and dedicated interns for both educational and administrative support at Stateville as well as on Evanston’s and Chicago’s campuses. At this time, NPEP internships are unpaid.

Within this role, you may work with incarcerated students at Stateville as well as graduate students, undergraduates and faculty on Northwestern’s Evanston and Chicago campuses. Interns will work with other NPEP volunteers, in conjunction with a full-time NPEP staff member as your supervisor and mentor. Within this role, the intern could help organize and participate in reading groups at Stateville, lead academic workshops, provide one-on-one tutoring to NPEP students, and offer support for individual courses, as needed.

Additionally, interns may help manage the day-to-day logistics of the NPEP program, help with administrative duties, write articles for the NPEP newsletter, and plan creative and meaningful opportunities for students at Stateville and on Evanston’s and Chicago’s NU campuses. This work includes building strong relationships with students, instructors and volunteers in NPEP as well as partners in the community.

Internships run for six months, August through January and February through July. Internships may be renewed.
