Oliver Hayes

Oliver Hayes (he/him/his) is a PhD candidate in the department of chemistry at Northwestern University. Oliver works in the lab of Chad Mirkin and his research aims to understand how DNA can be used to program the assembly of proteins into new architectures and materials with applications in catalysis and as therapeutic agents. Prior to Northwestern, Oliver earned his MChem degree from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.

Oliver is passionate about increasing diversity, inclusion and equity within STEM and serves as a board member of NU BonD (Northwestern University Building on Diversity), an organization that aims to foster a supportive and welcoming environment for students from underrepresented backgrounds within the Department of Chemistry and beyond. Outside of the lab, Oliver enjoys singing, reading, cooking and rock climbing.
