Magda Boutros

Magda Boutros is a PhD candidate in the Sociology department at Northwestern University. Her dissertation project examines mobilizations against police brutality and racial profiling in France and analyzes how victims, activists, and experts are transforming public conversations about policing and race in a colorblind country. Her previous research focused on anti-harassment activists in Egypt during the 2011 revolution. Prior to graduate study, Magda worked as a researcher in a human rights organization in Egypt, publishing reports on sexual violence, police violence, prison conditions, and fair trial rights.
