Bryna Kra

Bryna Kra is the Sarah Rebecca Roland Professor of Mathematics at Northwestern University.  She earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard and her PhD from Stanford. Before her appointment to Northwestern University, she held positions at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Michigan, the Institute des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques, Ohio State University, and Pennsylvania State University.  She works in dynamical systems, with a focus on problems at the intersection of dynamics, combinatorics, and number theory.  She was awarded the Centennial Fellowship of the American Mathematical Society in 2006, the Conant Prize of the American Mathematical Society in 2010,  was an inaugural fellow of the American Mathematical Society, and was elected a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2016.  She has been active in working to increase the number of women and underrepresented minorities in mathematics, running a conference for undergraduate women and mentoring programs in numerous settings.
