Paul Modrowski

Cohort: 2

Where are you from?

I grew up in the west DuPage County suburbs of Chicago.

What is your favorite field of study/topic?

Science, mathematics, design, and engineering.

What is something you would like people to know about you as a student?

I am seeking a bachelor of science.

What does being a part of NPEP mean to you?

Over the years, in prison, I have felt a growing void. Being a part of NPEP helps fill some of that emptiness. I also hope it will be a vehicle for more advanced learning, opportunity, and purpose.

What course has had the biggest impact on you and why?

My favorite course has been chemistry. I have a very curious mind. Science is very interesting to me.

What is your favorite book or article that you have read in your NPEP classes?

My favorite articles read for an NPEP class were about the Saturn moon, Titan. The moon was fascinating to read about due to its hydrocarbon lakes.

What assignment (paper, project, homework) have you found the most rewarding?

The most rewarding assignment was writing a thesis paper in philosophy supporting the proposition there is no free will. I have always been a determinist, but writing the paper has made me think more about my existence.
