Introductions to the Area Councils
Area Councils are student-led groups that strengthen residential life at Northwestern by planning events, fostering community, and offering leadership opportunities across the four campus areas. Now in their fourth year, they continue to grow as a tradition—hosting everything from pumpkin patches to Chicago Bulls outings while helping students build skills through the Northwestern Leadership Framework. Elder Dining Commons Transformed
After a year-long renovation, the reimagined Elder Dining Commons reopened in fall 2019 to rave reviews. It is a great destination for a quick bite or a leisurely meal with friends.

New Faculty-in-Residence at Elder
As the Faculty-in-Residence (“FIR”) program enters its second decade, Elder is getting its third FIR. The Office of the Provost and Division of Student Affairs are excited about the appointment of Elizabeth Lenaghan to this vital role, who began her term in fall 2019.
North Area Exam Relief
Healthy snacks, board games, crafts, and tips for productivity all came together in 560 Lincoln (now known as Shapiro Hall) for a wellness-oriented event to encourage residents to take a break, enjoy some company, and recharge their batteries before finals.
