Kemper Privacy Booths

When you need to avoid the distractions in your room or on your hall to focus, you can’t beat one of the privacy booths in the Kemper lobby. These are great places to focus on reading or writing. While not fully soundproofed, the booths offer some measure of privacy, which makes them popular for North Area residents conducting video interviews for class projects or an internship application. You don’t have to worry about finding the right angle to get books instead of a Bob Marley poster in the background.

Elder Lounge (G15)

Recently renovated and conveniently located across from the Elder Dining Commons, the Elder Lounge is a distraction-free zone. No game tables. No busy artwork. Just soothing colors, comfortable–but not too comfortable–furniture, and a wall of natural light from wall of windows looking on to the Elder rock garden. Pro tip: Come here for a digital detox. Whether you’re reading something for pleasure or for a course, think about bringing a printed copy–no laptops, tablets, or phones.
