Safe Ride

Safe Ride

Out after dark and want to get home safely at no cost? You’ve got an alternative to walking: Safe Ride! It’s a service provided by Via to Northwestern students. Safe Ride generally runs 7pm-3am, seven days a week during the academic year when classes are in session, but the schedule may vary due to weather or other circumstances. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the coverage area, which extends well beyond campus. Remember, Safe Ride isn’t a taxi service; it’s all about safety.

Campus Shuttle System

Northwestern operates several shuttles even though getting around campus and Evanston on foot or by bike can be a nice opportunity to stop and smell the roses. (We mean that more in the figurative sense of beholding majestic views of Lake Michigan or appreciating the details of the Gothic architecture.) Note that the closest stop to your building may not be in your residential area. Pro tip: Download the TransLoc app to get projected arrival times and arrival alerts that tell you when your ride is approaching.
