For my Fall 2020 CFS internship, I worked at OpenMarkets, a tech startup based in Chicago. I ultimately seek to get into the startup space and I felt that this was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the industry and whether it was a good fit for me.

As a business development intern, my job mainly consisted of analyzing data to present to current and potential clients. One aspect that of my technical skills that I really developed was my excel skills. I had a very basic understanding of excel and through various projects that I worked on I was able to improve tremendously. This is a skill that will carry into the future which will definitely make me a better candidate for a wide array of jobs.

What I think I have improved the most throughout the course of my internship are my skills while interacting with clients. I spoke with clients about potential sales and the numbers regarding them on a daily basis. This experience really taught me a lot as I have learned how to build a long term relationship with clients; I have learned the importance of attention to detail throughout this process as clients care about the fine details. My ability to communicate these details has improved drastically as well given the daily routine that I am put through.
