Training for the below techniques is typically done in conjunction with film depositions needed by the researcher trained. More information about training can be found here
Multilayer and Superlattice Deposition
Both the PLD/MBE 2300 and nanoPLD1000 have multi-target carousels that allow the sequential deposition from different target materials without breaking vacuum.
Custom Composition Films from Two or more Targets
Both the PLD/MBE 2300 and nanoPLD1000 have multi-target carousels that allow the sequential deposition from different target materials without breaking vacuum.
Combinatorial Film Deposition with up to four targets
By careful positioning of where the laser pulse ablates the target relative to the substrate and not rotating the substrate, it is possible to deposit a thickness gradient across the substrate.
Linear Composition Gradient of Two Materials
Both the PLD/MBE 2300 has a multi-target carousels that allow the sequential deposition from different target materials without breaking vacuum.
Multiple Thickness in a Single Deposition
The PLD/MBE also has a linear shutter that can be stepped across the substrate and synchronized with the laser pulses.
