Where are you from?

I am from the South Side of Chicago.

Why did you decide to apply to NPEP?

I decided to apply to NPEP because I felt it would present numerous opportunities for me, and what I’m most excited about is using my degree to help my community.

What does being a part of NPEP mean to you?

Being a part of NPEP means everything to me because I have something to prove to myself that I can be successful and achieve my goals.

What has been your favorite NPEP reading?

My favorite reading so far has been “The New Jim Crow.” It’s my favorite because I can relate due to the fact that I’m African American and I’m from an impoverished community.

What is something you would like others to know about you as a student?

I’m a fitness fanatic—I love to work out and hopefully one day I can become a celebrity personal trainer.

What is a fact about yourself that others might find surprising?

I can bench press 315 pounds and I’m only 170 pounds.
