Stateville Academic Support Team

The Stateville Academic Support Team (SAST) facilitates tutoring and academic programming for 80 students at Stateville Correctional Center. SAST help connect students to the resources they need to be successful members of the Northwestern community. Each week, SAST sends letters and research materials to students to help keep them on track and provide additional resources for their academic pursuits. For those looking to get involved with SAST, please contact us at the email below.

Logan Academic Support Team

The Logan Academic Support Team (LAST) meets the needs of our students at Logan Correctional Center by organizing tutor correspondence, facilitating weekly study halls, developing academic materials to reinforce in-class learning, supporting students’ co-curricular interests and projects, and fostering the intellectual growth of all students through wellness and restorative justice programming.

Since early 2021, we’ve worked to increase support and visibility for our students, including pairing each of our students with a volunteer and tutor to support their academic and overall needs; sending weekly wellness packets; holding weekly study halls; and supporting the growth of NPEP’s Restorative Justice Team.

LAST is committed to bridging the systemic gap that exists for academic support and programming in women’s facilities. For those looking to get involved with LAST — either as a remote or in-person tutor — please contact us at the email below.
