Cohort: 1

Where are you from?

Chicago.

What is your favorite field of study/topic?

Psychology.

What is something you would like people to know about you as a student?

I really love and greatly enjoy the act of learning.

What does being a part of NPEP mean to you?

NPEP means more to me than words can articulate. I’ve tried to answer this question several times and I feel like my words actually fall short of how I actually feel.

What course has had the biggest impact on you and why?

Psychology has had the biggest impact on me because it opened my eyes to a new reality of cognitive thinking. This course gave me answers to why we behave certain ways and what the triggers may be.

What is your favorite book or article that you have read in your NPEP classes?

Gloria Anzaldua’s “Borderlands” is my favorite book from NPEP.  She (Anzaldua) did such a fantastic job of explaining borderland culture, and I found it easy to relate her history and explanations of cultural history to my own.

What assignment (paper, project, homework) have you found the most rewarding?

RTVF — writing the short play. We were asked to write a short play (original), which was read in class by our classmates and ultimately performed at the Goodman Theatre. Wow!
