Justin Cavazos

Cohort: 1

Where are you from?

Aurora, Illinois.

What is something you would like people to know about you as a student?

That I’m always going to put my best foot forward in whatever it is I do.

What does being a part of NPEP mean to you?

It means a lot. It means that people believe in me. It means that I am being given the tools I need to be successful in life.

What course has had the biggest impact on you and why?

Biology 164, taught by Prof. Anne d’Aquino. There are so many fascinating things that the body can do. Things that we take for granted.

What is your favorite book or article that you have read in your NPEP classes?

In our biology class, we read about Mendelian genetics. We can determine where our traits came from and who will inherit them next.

What assignment (paper, project, homework) have you found the most rewarding?

A biology project that I did regarding scientists using bioluminescence from deep-sea creatures as a means to develop cancer immunotherapies. I found this to be very innovative.
