Justice Fellows
Founded in 2023, the NPEP Justice Fellows Program accepts five individuals who have been directly impacted by the criminal legal system for a one-year term of leadership in our program. NPEP Justice Fellows will be given opportunities to draw upon their lived experiences and expertise to inform NPEP’s work.
Throughout the course of the year, NPEP Justice Fellows will serve as a speaker in at least one NPEP-hosted event, organize a discussion for NPEP’s “Transforming Criminal Justice” series on a topic related to incarceration and the criminal legal system, and participate in twice-quarterly community meetings with other university-wide experts to discuss higher-education in prison, incarceration and transformations of the criminal legal system. Free and open to the public, these events will transform NPEP and bring together the best voices and initiatives working to dismantle racialized mass incarceration, strengthen re-entry, and transform how we think about crime and punishment in the United States.
