Where are you from?
Aurora, IL. My family’s roots are in Guanajuato, Mexico.
Why did I decide to apply to NPEP?
My inner hustle is what drove my application to NPEP because it is one of the greatest investments I could make. It stands for everything I’m trying to accomplish in my life, and is in tune with my hustle, grind and invest my time mindset.
What does being a part of NPEP mean to you?
That my purpose is bigger than my surroundings and it can’t be confined. I’ve invested a lot of pain, sacrifice and soul into creating a new life from scraps that were left after the streets regurgitated me in prison. Being in NPEP has made my vision for my life truly come into focus.
What are you most looking forward to as an NPEP student?
Enjoying my NPEP experience to the fullest! And making great memories to reflect on in the future. This present moment simultaneously becomes our past and creates our future. “I wish I could have this moment for life” – Nicki Minaj
What is something you would like others to know about you as a student?
I love learning because I love teaching. Ignorance played a huge role in my path and through education I was able to change the trajectory of my life. It’s also how I became passionate about investing in other people’s marathon. “Hustle & Motivate” – Nipsey Hussle
What is a fact about yourself that others might find surprising?
A long-term investment I’m making in myself, peers, and community is a manuscript. Each chapter is a part of my life and a hustle (investment) that prisoners can make with their time. I live by this hustle, grind, and invest time mentality and it’s the foundation for how I plan to give back to the world I’m a part of.
