John Beverley

John Beverley is PhD student in the Department of Philosophy in the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences, lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and ontology engineer at the National Center for Ontological Research. Prior to Northwestern, John was a philosophy graduate student at the SUNY University at Buffalo. Before that, John studied formal logic and chemistry at North Carolina State University.

John’s research at Northwestern lies in the intersection of formal logic, social epistemology, and ethics. John’s dissertation focuses on the identification and defense of context-dependent, blameless, moral and epistemic responsibilities. John also works with scientific researchers to develop structured vocabularies in the interest of coordinating data efficiently in the life sciences. John joined the NPEP Graduate Student Advisory Committee in 2020, and is excited to contribute to volunteer development as a member of the team.
