Jamal Jones (Cincere)

Cohort: 4

Where are you from?

Evanston, Illinois.

Why did you decide to apply to NPEP?

It has felt like a sense of coming full circle. I grew up on the campus of Northwestern and always wanted to attend. I wanted the opportunity to be part of a great community. A community that not only supports me but will challenge me to be a better me every day.

What does being a part of NPEP mean to you?

Being a part of NPEP means a lot to me. It means that, despite my current legal situation, I am worthy of being part of the Wildcat family. It means that through the lens of the Northwestern community, I’m seen and respected as a human being.

What are you most looking forward to as an NPEP student?

I am a student of life. I just want to learn as much as I can. From what I’ll learn, I know it will allow me to impact my fellow students and the communities that I’ll be a part of when I re-enter society. I’m ready for the enlightenment.

What is something you would like others to know about you as a student?

I am motivated! I am dedicated! I will always give 100% to my studies. I will always be open to helping fellow students.

What is a fact about yourself that others might find surprising?

I’m full of positive surprises.
