Edmond Duffin

Cohort: 2

Where are you from?

I’m from the South Side of Peoria, Illinois, by way of the Mississippi Delta.

Why did you decide to apply to NPEP?

I decided to apply to NPEP because my passion for learning was reignited by Professor Moe and a group of students from DePaul University in a restorative justice course that I’d previously taken.

What does being part of NPEP mean to you?

Being a part of NPEP means that I’ve been given a unique opportunity that I would’ve never had otherwise, to change the trajectory of my life from my current state of severely curtailed confinement to a future of limitless possibilities.

What has been your favorite NPEP reading?

My favorite NPEP reading is “My Daily Gratitudes,” by Professor Lackey, which helps me to remain grateful and to stay humble.

What is something you would like others to know about you as a student?

I struggle because I want to do well.

What is a fact about yourself that others might find surprising?

I can remember as far back as my early childhood when I was about eight or nine months old.
