Emily Ma

Emily is a PhD candidate in the Chemistry department. Her research focuses on understanding ion speciation and electrostatics at aqueous interfaces using nonlinear spectroscopy. She is also a trainee in the IDEAS Data Science Program, and hopes to apply data-visualization strategies to experimental techniques in her field. She began working with NPEP as a tutor at the beginning of 2020 and joined the student advisory committee in 2021. Prior to Northwestern, Emily studied chemistry at the University of Texas, and worked in the conservation department at the Harry Ransom Center archiving the Robert De Niro collection.
