 RESEARCH INTERESTS .

Hilary is passionate about working toward comprehensive and integrative approaches to addressing the social inequities and modifiable diet, lifestyle, and environmental factors that negatively impact physiological, mental, and emotional well-being. She appreciates learning about the interaction of biological, social, cultural, historical, and ecological factors that shape individuals’ unique life and health trajectories and contribute to varying responses to a given diet, lifestyle, or exposure to different stressors. She is always in pursuit of research projects that can help call attention to the need for public health and nutrition intervention programs that recognize and are adequately tailored to individuals’ and communities’ distinct needs, circumstances, and experiences.

Hilary’s current research projects are focused on measuring water insecurity experiences within and across different contexts and sociodemographic groups and investigating how water insecurity relates to food insecurity and measures of physical and mental health. She has conducted fieldwork in Bolivia and Kenya and currently works with secondary datasets from a wide variety of countries around the world.
