CFS Program: Legal Field Studies
I am interning at the Law Offices of Reza Baniassadi this summer. Mr. Baniassadi founded this law office twenty five years ago, and the law firm currently has more than 5600 cases in different areas. Most of the cases are involved with US Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCSI) and Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR), others are related to family law, civil and property rights. Therefore, I have the opportunities to be exposed to different areas in law, and truly enjoyed the learning experience so far.
The weekly class CFS offered related with my internship is a highlight of this program. Each week our instructors invited people who are currently working in the legal field to talk about their career experience. The guests’ speeches always followed the topics of our weekly readings and discussion, and therefore we are able to compare the information and raise questions towards speakers about work in real life. Students talk about our gains and confusions after a week’s work, and it is truly beneficial to know the working culture and organization in other places. Instructors lead us to think and discuss the pros and cons following the different career tracks we might take up in the future, and mentally prepared us for the fiscal, academic and even emotional side of life choices we may make. It is precious to have such great companions and mentors along the way when you start to launch your career.
