My internship at Blue Cross Blue Shield has been an inspiring experience. The manager gives me the responsibility to work on a project that makes substantial impact on increasing company efficiency. One assignment that I did focused on system prompt consolidation. I served as an alignment between the business units and the technology division, and I had the opportunity to dig into the company’s primary search engine to research and manually consolidate information, which in turn decreases redundancy and boosts efficiency for the end-users.

One key take-away I have thus far from this internship is to become proactive in the workplace. I wasn’t given real work right from the beginning – I did two weeks of “ethics and compliance” training courses. After I interacted with my team members actively and asked my manager for work, the effort paid off: I am now contributing to the same project that full-time employees in my team are doing. I have received so much more out of my internship experience because I took the initiative to ask my manager for work.

CFS is a fantastic program and I cannot be more grateful for the opportunities it offers to bridge my education with real-world experience.
