Birthday Bash

Birthday Bash

We want to make sure every South Area resident has the chance to eat some cake and ice cream for their birthday! Every quarter, Dr. Greenwell hosts a birthday bash for anyone who turned a year older during that time. Bring your friends to help you celebrate!

Breakfast Club

Chat with FIR Dr. Myrna GarcĂa as she hosts you and your South Area friends for Breakfast Club! Sometimes it’s locally catered food and other times you can work together to cook fresh breakfast! Either way, it makes for a fun and delicious start to your day.

Crochet Club

Crochet Club

From time to time, South Area residents will gather with Dr. Greenwell to work towards crocheting an item. Last year, our group finished up their scarves just in time for the winter months! The crochet club welcomes students of all different skillsets, offering plenty of opportunities to learn!

Garden of Eatin' Harvest Days

Across the seasons, Dr. Greenwell invites residents to plant and harvest crops from South Area’s very own Garden of Eatin’! Hop on in and gather a fresh selection of our garden goods, all of which are donated to food-insecure NU students.

Therapeutic Thursdays

Therapeutic Thursdays

Every Thursday, South Area FIR Dr. Ava Thompson Greenwell invites residents to engage in health, wellness, and self-care activities. Throughout the year, Therapeutic Thursdays offer sessions such as yoga, aromatherapy, and massage tune-ups. Use this habitual time to come together, relax, and unwind.

Winter Ice Skating

Once winter arrives, Faculty-In-Residence Dr. G plans a trip to the local Evanston ice skating rink! Every year, residents have a blast as they try their best to skate like professionals. It’s not every day you have the opportunity to get off campus during the chilly season, so you and your friends will not want to skip this special winter festivity!
