Birthday Bash
We want to make sure every South Area resident has the chance to eat some cake and ice cream for their birthday! Every quarter, Dr. Greenwell hosts a birthday bash for anyone who turned a year older during that time. Bring your friends to help you celebrate!
Crochet Collab
From time to time, South Area residents will gather with Dr. Greenwell to work towards crocheting an item. Last year, our group finished up their scarves just in time for the winter months! The crochet club welcomes students of all different skillsets, offering plenty of opportunities to learn!

Desserts with Dominique
Join Dominique for his South Area tradition: Desserts with Dominique! Throughout the academic year, Dominique invites South Area residents to take a break from studying and partake in a sweet treat. Be on the lookout for the next opportunity to share dessert with your South Area friends!
End of Year Ice Cream Party
To celebrate the academic year, Dr. Greenwell invites South Area residents to her end of year Ice Cream Party. Ice cream is offered by C&W’s ice cream truck. Last year’s party also offered face paint! Grab your friends and head to South Lawn to celebrate the end of a great year and finishing spring quarter this June!

Garden of Eatin' Harvest Days
Across the seasons, Dr. Greenwell invites residents to plant and harvest crops from South Area’s very own Garden of Eatin’! Hop on in and gather a fresh selection of our garden goods, all of which are donated to food-insecure NU students.
South Area Egg Hunt
Every Spring, South Area Council gets a load of prizes together for residents to find in their annual South Area Egg Hunt. South Area residents can win big ticket items like digital cameras, Nintendo Switches, AirPod Pros, and more. Be on the lookout to register for the South Area Egg Hunt this upcoming Spring!

Wellness Wednesdays
Every Wednesday, South Area FIR Dr. Ava Thompson Greenwell invites residents to engage in health, wellness, and self-care activities. Throughout the year, Wellness Wednesdays offer sessions such as yoga, aromatherapy, and massage tune-ups. Use this habitual time to come together, relax, and unwind.
Winter Ice Skating
Once winter arrives, Faculty-In-Residence Dr. G plans a trip to the local Evanston ice skating rink! Every year, residents have a blast as they try their best to skate like professionals. It’s not every day you have the opportunity to get off campus during the chilly season, so you and your friends will not want to skip this special winter festivity!
