Hello New Science Blog!

Hello World! My name is Elan Ness-Cohn, and I am a PhD Candidate in the Driskill Graduate Program in Life Sciences at Northwestern University. As a computational biologist conducting research in the Braun Lab, I am interested in the development of methods for integrative analysis of high-dimensional genomic and proteomic data.

While I spend a majority of my day reading research articles, thinking about science, and writing code for the analysis of big *omics data; I’ve found there is a limited outlet to share the fun and interesting science that captivates me with friends outside of my field or the scientific bubble entirely.

Having passed the stress of my qualifying exam, I decided the next chapter of my Phd should include a way to reflect on my work, share my insights with others, and simultaneously practice writing more regularly. While my goal for this blog is to highlight new ideas, present thoughts and insights on research articles, and document small side projects; mostly, I will use the medium to share and reflect on my PhD experience! So sit back, relax, and enjoy coming along for the ride!
