My internship experience so far has been better than I could’ve hoped. When I first started, I would meet with my supervisor at the beginning of the day, but now that I’ve gotten in the groove I’m free to help out throughout the office in any way I can. Most of my work involves underwriting which is the process of investigating a potential borrower to see if they will be a good candidate for a loan. Because Barnett is a real estate firm, I also do a fair amount of property underwriting, examining the profitability of a potential project. Whether it be looking at appraisals or running an Excel model to determine financials, my experience has given me an in-depth understanding of real estate.
The reason I was attracted to CFS was because I was intimidated by the workplace, a financial workplace specifically. You fear what you don’t know right? Through this experience, I’ve been able to conquer those fears by taking the leap of faith that CFS allows. I now see potential employers in a different light. I see an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience as long as you put your best foot forward.
