At Tempus, I have been involved with using their system that uses natural language processing to help abstract data that can be used for cancer research. This process relies entirely on nurses’ and doctors’ observations, and while for the most time they are trustworthy sources, there is still the chance of human error. Tempus’ system (and the coding behind it) is very impressive, and has opened my eyes to the different ways in which the health care system has to evolve in order to support more honest and helpful answers through artificial intelligence systems like the one we have at Tempus in order to be a valuable resource for medical advances.
