During this winter, I have had the opportunity to work at NextGen Growth Partners, a unique private equity firm that focuses on entrepreneurship through acquisition. My primary task as a Private Equity Analyst Intern is to perform thorough market research to assist the acquisition of a company. I work closely within my Entrepreneur-in-Residence team which includes undergraduate and graduate students from universities across Chicago. By working hard, listening and practicing other essential internship skills, I have been able to get the most out of my internship experience.
In my CFS class, I get to reflect on my internship with my peers and learn more about Chicago through the lens of civic engagement. Professor Liz McCabe has done an amazing job of incorporating all types of internship experiences into conversations about how work, companies, and neighborhoods interact with civic spaces. Not only have our discussions made me rethink my relationship with Chicago, but the class has also helped me to think more critically of my internships and the skills that I have developed. Thanks to CFS, I have had the amazing opportunity of learning so much while working in the field where I would like to pursue my career.
