I had a great spring quarter working in the non-profit sector at Rainbows for All Children (RFAC). Rainbows supports youth as they navigate grief and heal from loss, whether from death, divorce, deployment, or other trauma. Coming into the internship I was unsure what to expect. I personally had no idea how non-profits operated or how the made money.

I wanted to use my spring internship to try out a different industry and see if I might be interested in working in the non-profit sector. I learned a great deal from working at Rainbows. The team was small and the entire operation had a small business feel to it. Everyone is constantly helping one another to reach their end goals. I had the opportunity to perform data analysis for the company along with many other functions. At the end of the internship I decided that the non-profit sector was not the best fit for me and what I was looking for in a career. However, I really enjoyed my time and the opportunity to get to know the Rainbows staff. I’m grateful to the CFS program for allowing me to “test drive” a career path and get one step closer to deciding where my true interest lie.
