Foundation Directory Online
Foundation Center’s Foundation Directory Online offers information on more than 200,000 US Foundations. Search by person, organization name, subject area, and more. In February 2019, Guidestar began partnering with Foundation Center to form Candid, whose stated mission is to find out where nonprofit funding “comes from, where it goes, and why it matters.”
Urban Institute: National Center for Charitable Statistics
Search information on the programs and finances of more than two million American charities and nonprofit organizations. Among its many fine features, the FAQ page of the NCCS site is a succinct primer on the differences between types of nonprofit organizations.
