About Me

A photo of Ziyun Chew wearing a black and white button up with flowers and a jean jacket, standing in front of a forest. They are smiling at the camera.

I’m a fourth-year PhD student in the Linguistics Department at Northwestern University. I generally study how sociocultural processes influence interaction and speech production/perception. My primary work is on the sociophonetics of English-Spanish bilingual Mexican Americans in El Paso, TX, a community I share membership in.

I go by Z or 紫雲 (pinyin: zǐ yún), and my pronouns are they/them.
