The Project
SWEET was a pilot study that applied patient navigation strategies to improve the health of pregnant people with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). A cohort of 40 people were randomized to one of two groups, usual care or navigation, where those selected to be in the navigation group received GDM-specific navigation services up until one year after delivery. We hoped the implementation of SWEET would generate key data for the conduct of a full-scale trial that will address critical questions about long-term maternal health and type 2 diabetes prevention. The study concluded in 2024.
