ISRC’s events provide opportunities for ISRC residents to take a break from classes, have fun with friends, meet faculty, and bond with other residents! Although we hold a variety of different events every quarter, check out the largest and most popular ones below.

ISRC Socials

Our socials allow residents to get out of the dorm (and sometimes Evanston as a whole) and have fun at no cost! Socials include ice skating in Millennium Park, Chicago donut shop visits, improv comedy shows, and a quarterly Todoroki social with all-you-can-eat sushi!

Socials are the best way to experience what the Chicago area has to offer. If you have a suggestion of a place you would like to visit or some social event you would like to see in the future, contact our Executive Board, who are always happy to listen to residents’ ideas.

International Dinner

International Dinner (or ID) is a special event that brings all of ISRC together, including our lovely faculty fellows. Occurring annually at the end of the winter quarter, this formal dinner is a chance for residents, fellows, non-residents, and staff to come together in a fun environment and bond over a diverse array of international dishes! There is no entrance fee for the dinner, but every attendee must bring a dish of their own to share with everyone.

After dinner, there is a small transition ceremony to signify the start of the new Executive Board’s term. This event is a highlight of most students’ year at ISRC because of its combination of delicious food, new and old friends, and their love for ISRC!

Cross-RC Trips

These trips, similar to our Social Events, allow ISRC residents to experience more of what Chicago has to offer at discounted or no cost! XRC trips tend to focus on cultural events through music, museums, and theater. This is also a great opportunity to interact with residents of the other Residential Colleges!

In the past, we have gone to:

  • Frank Lloyd Wright Walking Tour
  • Broadway in Chicago
  • Chicago Botanic Garden
  • NY Symphony Orchestra
  • Centennial Wheel at the Navy Pier
