Qatar’s performance has improved in international tests over the years, but it still remains among the world’s poorest performers.
Qatar improved in the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study eighth-grade science test from a 319 average in 2007 to a 457 average in 2015. But it ranks 26 out of 39 participating countries. In the Programme for International Student Assessment, the performance of most countries stayed the same since 2006. But Qatar’s mean score rose in science, reading and math. Its mean score in reading, for instance, rose from 312 in 2006 to 402 in 2015. Nevertheless, Qatar still ranks below more than 50 countries.
The following infographic shows Qatar’s performance in international tests compared with other countries.
