Effective July 25, 2022, students experience a more graphical interface when submitting an assignment in Canvas. As a teacher, your view of Canvas assignments is the same.
The following steps are addressed to students on how they submit an assignment, which you may also view in a video tutorial here.
- Go to the Assignment page in your Canvas course. You will find this page either on your course home page To Do list or linked appropriately within a session page.
- Review assignment deadline and details to ensure your work is ready to submit.
- Locate the “Choose a submission type” section, where you can select an acceptable method of assignment submission. Most assignments are paper-based; for this type of submission go to the Upload button.
- A “Drag a file here, or” space appears with an image of a rocket. If you already have your computer’s file directory open with the file you want to upload, you can select, hold and drag that file to this space within the dashed lines. You may also select “Choose a file to upload” link to open your computer’s file directory and select the file.
- When done, locate the blue “Submit Assignment” button in the lower right corner of your Canvas page. Press “Submit Assignment” to complete your assignment submission.
- When you do this, the green progress circle near the top of the assignment page changes to “SUBMITTED on [date and time you submitted].”
- If you submit the assignment by the posted deadline, a virtual shower of confetti will appear on your screen!
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your course instructor or Chris Neary.
